Dcoument recovery

I have by mistake saved over an existing word document. This was a very big and important document that I saved over. Is there any way I could recover the original document. I am using Win2000 and word2000. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

To my knowledge, the expense of doing so would surely exceed the value of retyping

IF you have the "Always create backup copy" box checked under
Tools>Options>Save AND you have only saved the document once, then you can
use the backup copy.

Or, if you started by opening the document and then changed it AND you have
not yet closed it, use Undo to undo the changes.

Otherwise, you are out of luck.
