DCOM error on brand new setup

Hello, I just built a new system and moved up to XP Pro and I have tried re-installing the OS twice now with the same problem. At first, it was constantly rebooting but has now settled into giving me a double popup on each boot telling me that "The Service Database Is Locked" & "Can't Start Kernel Mode Driver Service." In the "Event Viewer", I can see that the errors were DCOM reporting that it couldn't start the "NETMAN" service.

I have a 3.2E Prescott P4 on an Intel D875PZB motherboard with an ASUS V9570 video card, SoundBlaster Audigy2 ZS sound card, and 2 gigs of Corsair CAS2 ram.

It seems to get worse or happen more often AFTER I download all the critical updates for my system. I don't have a modem as I connect through my onbaord LAN with cable. Any help or ideas would be greatly apppriciated, TIA.

Try this; Start, run, type in msconfig , click ok, under the Services
tab, check "Hide all Microsoft services", under the "Startup tab, disable
all, ok, and reboot...after rebooting, check box in lower left corner of
popup config changes box, and close it. If this helps, go back into
msconfig, and recheck one box at a time, rebooting after each change to look
for problem to re-appear. Hope this helps, as it helped me with a similar
problem.

I found that all the "extras" that my Creative Soundblaster Audigy2 ZS card put into the registry for startup was causing my problems. By eliminating them, the problem has vanished and I can still use my sound card extras by starting them up as I need them instead of letting them all load at system start.

Thank you so much for your quick reply
