DC demotion problems

I demoted a Windows 2000 DC successfully. However, when I go to the
remaining DCs, both of which are Windows 2003 servers, they still get
replication errors for the demoted DC

Issuing dcdiag from one of the remaining DCs, it says the

From DemotedDC to Remaining DC
Naming context: ...
The replication generated an error <1722>

What steps am I missing to remove the demoted DC from AD?

Thanks, Kwele

I'm not sure what's gone wrong, but a metadata cleanup ought to fix it:

You still have references of the demoted DC in you AD database which will
lead to replication errors. Make sure you have deleted all the references
for the demoted dc in AD ie. by going in ADUC and ADSS and from
ntdstutil.exe and doing a metadata cleanup.
