db1 when closing

I have noticed that when i close a database, a file called db1 appears for a
short time while Access is closing. This only appears with this file. When i
close other databases i do not see the db1 file.

I have also experienced an unexplained loss of information from this
database. When this occurs the db1 remains after closing as a copy of the
original file.


Any ideas what is going on

Sounds like you have the Compact On Close option selected.

Deselect it under:
Tools | Options | General
