day/date correlation

is there a way to have a date in one cell ie: 9/11/03 and
have the adjacent cell specify the correct day ie:
thursday???

If you had the date in A1 put
=TEXT(A1,"dddd")
into B1 (or wherever you like)

B1: =A1

Custom format B1 as dddd.
