I am trying to use the daverage function in Excel 2000 and referencin
cell ranges in a different workbook. The only why that I can get th
results updated is to have both workbooks open.

Is there a way to hav the update take place without th source workbo
being opened.

Yes and no, you can't use daverage but you could get a conditional average
by using sumproduct
and keep the book closed.
