Date Range Malfunction

I have created a chart starting from scratch and using the wizard and I still
can not get to work right. This is what I have entered

Data Range:
='Dollar Forecast'!$A$3,'Dollar Forecast'!$C$3:$AX$3,'Dollar
Forecast'!$A$31,'Dollar Forecast'!$C$31:$AX$31,'Dollar
Forecast'!$A$33,'Dollar Forecast'!$C$33:$AX$33

Series 1
Values: ='Dollar Forecast'!$C$31:$AX$31
Category (X) axis labels: ='Dollar Forecast'!$C$3:$AX$3

Series 2
Values: ='Dollar Forecast'!$C$33:$AX$33
Category (X) asix labels: ='Dollar Forecast'!$C$3:$AX$3

Based on the above information, my chart should start on October 5.
However, it insists on starting on August 2 although my data does not go back
that far. I have change the scale information to start on 10/5, but it keep
reverting to 08/02. Any ideas what may be causing this? I use Excel 2003.

Thanks in advance for your help. Happy Holidays!

Is it a line chart or an XY chart? Is the data continuously increasing over
the range $C$3:$AX$3? Make sure you didn't enter an incorrect date somewhere
in the middle. Also when you set your new axis scale parameters, and change
what's in the text box, do you then check the Auto checkbox in front? (Don't
be insulted, I've seen this happen more times than you'd imagine).
