Date Question

When I enter a date with a one-digit day, I have to enter
07, 08, 09, etc. - Is there any way of changing that so I
would only have to enter (for example) 12/9/04 and the
date would display 12/09/2004?

There's no need to use the zeros. In fact, there is no need to enter the
year either if you want the current year. Many dates can be entered with
just 3-5 keystrokes, such as:
12/9

Perhaps you are using some kind of input mask that forces you to enter every
digit?

We are not even sure which software you are using.

Perhaps, you like to give more details (software / OS) and where about you
are entering the data, e.g. datasheet or Form if you are talking about
Microsoft Access to which this newsgroup is devoted to.

A reasonable supposition - but because of Microsoft's "oh so helpful"
Help interface, we're getting a LOT of folks posting questions about
Word, Excel, and Outlook, just because microsoft.public.access is
first on the list and it looks like a place to get "access to help"
rather than "Access help"!

I'd suggest that you simply remove the mask. It's generally more
hassle than benefit; without it you can type 12/9 or 9 Dec or
12/09/2004 or almost any reasonable date format, and Access will
interpret it correctly.
