Date is "None" in Outbox

I am using Outlook 2003 on a WinXP Pro system. Some of the messages I sent
seem to get stuck in the Outbox. When I look at the Outbox, those messages
are in a folder with "Date: None" while most messages are in a folder with
"Date: Today". Those in the Date: None folder never get sent?

What causes this? How can I prevent it?

I did some more experimenting and if I open one of these messages and then
again click on "Send" the current date appears in the date column for a
second and then reverts back to "None"

Any advice?
