Date grouping

I recently began accessing a Access 2000 database from a different server.
After the transition all reports with date grouping no longer work. Nor does
the Format$ function work if you recreate the report using the report wizard.
The reports still work properly if accessed via the other server as well.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
