date entry

working in excel 2003.
i have 2 s/s A & B. when i update one of cells in s/s A, the date is
automatically entered into col a.
when i enter data into s/s B it's updated into col o of s/s A using
=VLOOKUP(AO15,'SDI sizing xref - old to new'!$P:$U,6,FALSE).
i then need the date to be updated in col a of s/s A but it's not. excel
not recognizing this as "data entry - key strokes". is there anyway this can
work?
