date data type

I created a form with 2 text fields where you enter a date when you click a
command button it updates a table. When I click the button, I get an error
'3421' "data type conversion error". This same code worked before a made
changes to the table. I broke the table down into 2 tables and I referenced
the new tables and made the relationships but now the code doesn't work. This
has happened before to other code after I had made changes to a table. Is
there some kind of reference to the table that needs to be changed when you
alter the table? Here is an example of my code:

I have a field in the table called SAMPLE_DATE
Dim dbsdb2 As Database
Dim rstBILLING_T As Recordset

Dim datSAMPLE_DATE As Date

Set dbsdb2 = OpenDatabase("db2.mdb")
Set rstBILLING_T = _
dbsdb2.OpenRecordset("BILLING_T")

With rstBILLING_T
.AddNew
!SAMPLE_DATE = "datSAMPLE_DATE"

You need to take out the quotes around the variable name. Because of the
quotes, the code is attempting to assign the name of the variable as a
string instead of the value of the variable as a date.
