Date Conversion

I am importing data from a mainframe. Dates are in UK format dd.mm.yyyy
(30.09.2008)

I need to convert to dd/mm/yyyy

Any help appreciated.

=SUBSTITUTE(A1,".","/")*1
Cell format dd/mm/yyyy
