date comparison

hi community

how can i write a comparison between two dates in the cells, I am using the
Advance Filter, and wanting to filter a set of records,

when i enter in a cell, >=14 Mar 2009, the data changes to a text format? i
wanted to use 2 dates that are between the dates oof March 14 and March 22

The first criterion would be like
=">=" & DATE(2009,3,14)
It's a string, but with the date converted (via the Date function) to a
numeric value.
The date could also be in another cell, so your criterion would be like
=">=" & I3
