Date Auto Format

Hello. Until today, I have always used an excel auto
format that seems to have stopped. Prior to today, if I
selected a cell and formatted it as a date, I could then
type 0826 and hit tab, Excel would then auto format the
cell to read 08/26/04. Today, if I type 0826, the auto
format changes it to 04/05/02. Please help. Thank you.

Yes, I am sure this has happened for as long as I can
remember I work on this spreadsheet everday!

Hi
then your sheet has VBA code (an event handler). Really no way I know
about that Excel without VBA can do this. You may check if the year
really is 2004 and NOT 1904. Try formating these cells with MM/DD/YYYY.

Reason for this:
- Excel internally stores dates as numbers (with 1.1.1900 as '1'). So
the 26-Aug-2004 is represented by 38225. Now if you enter 0826 in a
cell Excel should convert this to a date of 05-Apr-1902. So again
there's no way Excel can show the correct date without VBA.
