Date auto fill

Every time I put in #-## excel changes it to a date. Where do I turn this
feature off?
 
Prefix with ' to enter it as Text
Or preset the cell to Text format.

Pre-format the cell(s) as text or preface #-## with an apsotrophe which will not
be visible in the cell.
