Database subform

I linked a database form to the same database form as a subform. When I open
the the form, the form was opened in database view. But if I open this form
by using command button on another form, first form's view became
columnarlike in design view (subform is still database view). How can I get
that first form is database view also.

As I understand it the main form can only be Single Form when there is a
subform.
