Hi,

I know next to nothing about Access security, but I've been given a .mdb file
kindly left by a previous employee, and asked to open it.

All I get when double clicking is "You do not have the necessary permissions to
use the "C:\folder\file.mdb" object.

Is there a nice simple way I can get into the mdb? I don't even know what
version of access it was created in......

thanks in advance

That message would indicate that you do not have full permission to the
folder where your database lives. Not really a Microsoft Access issue, more
of a Windows permission thing.

Remember, you need FULL permission to the folder.

Try to open it with Shift & Enter. Then search for the security. Normaly
situated in the Startup module or the macro Autoexec.
