Hello .. I am using a previously created database as a base for a new one
.... I have renamed the mdb file & would like to change the name which
appears when forms are displayed ... it is still showing the previous
database name in the bar above the standard tool bar e.g. it shows
"Microsoft Access - [Classic]" which is the old name .. how do I get it to
show the new name, or not show any name at all.

Any help would be much appreciated

Hi, Abay.
how do I get it to show the new name, or not show any name at all.

Select the Tools -> Startup... menu, then type the new name in the text box
in the top left of the dialog window, under Application Title. Select the
"OK" button to save the change.
or not show any name at all.

Either the "Microsoft Access" title will show, or the application title you
typed in. It's never blank.

Many thanks for your reply .. I entered the new name under Application Title
& it now shows the new name, but still shows the old one .. before it showed
"Microsoft Access - [Classic], it now shows Downtown - [Classic] .. Classic
is the name of the old database ..Downtown is the new one.

It sounds to me like your database is automatically opening a form named
"Classic" and maximizing it. When a form is maximized, its caption
shares the Access window's title bar with the application title. If I'm
right about what's happening, you probably want to open that form in
design view and change the form's caption to something else. Note that,
if your database itself is called "Downtown", and the form is also
called "Downtown", then when the form is opened and maximized, you'll
get a title bar that reads "Downtown - [Downtown]". That may be too far
downtown for your taste.

Many thanks again .. you are of course right, the form's caption still said
"Classic", have now changed it, not to "Downtown," as that's way too far
Downtown for my taste as you point out :)
