Database Map

Anyone ever heard of a Database Map?

I need to create a "Database Map" for the custom database I just finished.

I don't even know where to begin! It's a little puzzling. I think the end
result should look like a flow-chart. But the map should also list all the
database objects, and how they are linked/joined with other objects (ie
queries).

Has anyone done anything like this before? Can anyone provide me a URL I
can click on to view a sample?

Thank you for your help,

Kan

I use Word with hyperlinks. I have autotext that inserts a new preformatted
table with space for everything I document when I type "new table."

I've seen a database map that includes tables---and how they relate to one
another (one to many, etc) with all their underlying fields. I don't think it
would include queries though.

I should metion you can go to Access. . . .Tools. . Relationships and map it
out. I don't know all the details, but it could be a starting point.

Thank you, Amy...

Could you provide me with an example of what this looks like? I'm a little
confused.

Thanks,
Kan

I have a tool called Total Access Analyzer. It is sold by www.FMSInc.com.
I have been using it for years and it has been very helpful in documenting
databases built by other people. It produces hundreds of reports including
the type of cross reference you are looking for. It also points out errors
and inconsistencies.

You might also look at MS Visio. Pretty easy to do basic flow charts. Also
has the ability to connect to a live database. A free trial (90 days?) is
available for download.
