I finished writting my program and it works but now if I burn it to a CDR I
cant run it in another computer or from the cdrom it says it is read only.
WHY? Please help. I have burnt it 3 times with the same results. If I export
all the date into a new program within the next computer it will work in that
computer. I am using windows XP latest version and is Professional

It's because files on CDR are always read-only, and when you copy back to
the hard drive, the read-only attribute doesn't get reset.

Find the file in File Explorer, right-click on it, select Properties and
uncheck the Read-Only flag.

(It'll always be read-only if you open it from the CD)

The file properties are changed to Read Only because they were written
to a CDR.

Copy the files from the CD to the other computer. Then select the
files, look at the Properties and uncheck Read Only.

My experience is that files copied from a CD to a Hard Drive are READ ONLY
in Windows 2000 but NOT READ ONLY in Windows XP..try it!

That means that changing the read only attribute is NOT necessary for
Windows XP.

Yes, I believe MS came to their senses and stopped the ridiculous practice of
setting the Read Only flag on all files written to CD media with the release of
XP.
