Database for books

P

Philip Loh

Hi there !

Looking for a book database example for me to get started.

To cover the basic things like title, author, genre, description, etc.

Also looking for a nice / professional looking form / screen. The normal
Access forms/ screens look rather plain.

Thanks.

Philip,
Your first best bet is to search the web. A few key words would be
"template" "microsoft access" "catalog" "library"... etc...

But... if you are new to Access, this would be a great learning
experience/project to start out with.
Basically, ONE Author to MANY Books. Table of Authors, table of Books.
Shouldn't take long to set it up at all...
Any specific problems along the way, use these newsgroups for help.

Don't forget the ISBN... and good luck. :-D

Dear Philip:

In addition to Al's useful suggestions there are templates from Microsoft:

Access 2000: Book Collection

http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/templates/TC010186431033.aspx?pid=CT102144001033

Access 2000: DVD Collection

http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/templates/TC010186441033.aspx?pid=CT102144001033

Access 2007: Lending Library (for "Assets", not specifically books..)

http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/templates/TC102068831033.aspx?pid=CT101428241033

And, you may wish to look at the freeware small library application I have
made available at the website listed in my signature. It is a completely
customizable Access library application (i.e. not an .mde)..

Have Fun!
