Database appears to have become secured

One of our users created a database that she swears is not secured. However,
when she opens the database on her computer, she gets a login box and the
database opens correctly (she is the owner of the database and has admin
priviledges to it). When any other user attempts to open the database, no
login box appears, and the database opens properly, with the exception that
the other users cannot edit or add to the info. Other user used to be able
to add and edit the data - the change has occurred recently. From what I can
see, my guess is that the database has somehow become protected and the user
group no longer has permissions to edit the database. Does this sound
correct? Is there anything else that could cause this problem?

Does not sound secured to me.

Sounds like she is joined to a workgroup on her computer where she has
assigned a password to the user "admin".

Since others can log on, it sounds like htat database file does not care
which mdw file you use. If it were secured, others would not be able to
open it. You would get a message stating that a specific mdw file was
required to open the file and then you'd be kicked out.

Very interesting...so then how do I get it to allow the other users to add
and edit data?

Do they have full access to the folder in which the database is stored? Is
the database set to open in multi-user mode in the options?

Yes, they have full access and the database is set to open status, not
exclusive.

it may, in fact, be that the Users Group does not have permissions to the
objects in the database. Have this person log on as a member of the Admins
Group and verify whether or not that is so and, if it is, give the
permissions back to that group, then clear the Admin User's password.

Thanks for everyone's help! I got it fixed by logging in as the admin,
creating a new database, and then importing the objects from the old database
into the new.
