when trying to open excel from the office 2000 professional edition which was
had been loaded with used computer and disc is no longer in my
possession-window installer prompts me to load disk. I've done all the
updates on windows 2000 and office updates that were available on web. The
problem is that I am in college and I have to submit homework via a database
(blackboard.com)that is not interacting well with my software..I need to get
this fixed before Sunday. microsoft sent me an email that they don't support
the warranty of office 2000 anymore so Im stuck. I was told by tech team at
college who search ms site that this is a common problem and it lies within
the PowerPoint and Excel part of Office 2000. tech team does not have install
disks available so im stuck..help!

They have them, or else I'd be curious how they installed Excel. they may
not want to give out a copy of the MS Office CD though. Don;t know how you
get past it without the media though, sorry.

thanks Ken. I got a hold of office xp so all is solved now. the 2000 pro is
history and it was screwing me up. I love how xp takes all files and does an
upgrade and no media is lost.

There's a lot of benefit to a consistent file format across different
versions :)

Anyway, glad you got sorted.
