Hi

I have a cell that contains a data validation field. The entries of the
dropdown box are "yes" and "no". Now I have the problem, that I want to
enter just the first character of the desired value, e.g. "y" for "yes". Is
it possible to get this work? It seems that Excel doesn't support this
feature. Many thanks in advance.

Tom

If you mean you want to enter Y and have Yes appear in the cell, or Yes to
be highlighted in the list, then no, data validation doesn't support that.

Tom,

I don't think you can do this. If it is a straight YES/NO field, then you
could put Yes/No as a header and enter y & n as the list data.
