I am trying to create a data table in Sheet 2, while the input cell is
in Sheet 1. Is this possible?
 
imo, don't think its possible (in xl97)

Any attempt to input in say,
the column input cell box: Sheet1!$C$2
will immediately throw up an error:
"Input cell reference is not valid"

But you can always set up the data table somewhere
within the same sheet, say Sheet1
and then just do a Copy > Paste special
Paste Link (& Paste Formats) into Sheet2
