Data Recovery HELP!!

I was wondering if you can provide me with some tips on
how to recover data from my hard drive.

I was planning to rebuild my laptop computer and deleted
the system files partition (31Mb) and then realized I had
forgotten to back up one very important file. This was
the Microsoft Outlook .pst email file. Now when I try and
reboot the computer it gives me a hardware disk
configuration error and I cannot boot the machine. I have
tried chkdsk and it said repaired the bad sectors.

The partition that contains my file is intact and was not
deleted. Is there a way for me to recover this file? The
file system is a FAT system and now has only 1 partition
C: which stores all the data. I can boot from WEIndows
200 CD and go to the Recovery Console. Is there a way to
backup this one file from recovery console without having
to use a software programm. I cannot get into the OS and
install anythin gor even look at the files. it stops at
reboot and gives me the above error!!

Please HELP!!

Normally I just say something like: "I don't see how administrative
scripting with batch files on Win2K systems is an appropriate forum in which
to ask about a problem with a FAT drive", but seeing you are in a pickle, I
will say a bit more.

I would suggest that you find a machine running w9x that you can work with,
and add your problematic disk to that system. Then use command.com to find
the file and copy it to the local hard drive. Then re-install w2k on your
system from scratch, connect the two, then copy the .pst file over.

If that is not detailed enough for you, you might also consider paying
someone who does this kind of work recover your file.
