data provider failed while executing a command

i have not been able to get my data access pages to work
on the internet with iis5.0

i have access 2002 db and have a three tier setup on the server . whenever i
try to open the page with ie it give me an error saying data provider
failed
while executing a command
then it gives me this error invaild sql statement : expected
delete insert procedure select or update .
i dont even have an sql server server installed or a db for a sql server .
what am i doing wrong .
please help
