Data Labels on XY graphs

P

Philippe

I began using Office with Office 95, about 12 years ago. Before that, I used
Lotus and Quattro Pro. With those softwares, I had no problem to graph column
A and B as X and Y axis, and use a third column C as a source for data labels.

With the various new Excel versions since Excel 95, I always look for such a
possibility, without ever finding it. I don't see it in Excel 2007 either.
All I can do in Excel is limited to use the content of column A or B as data
label, but there is no possibility to use a third column as data label.

To display other data labels than the values of X or Y (which is not really
useful as I can read the values on the axis), I have to use VBA.

Is Microsoft considering some day to allow a third column for data labels ?

Thanks in advance for any answer.

Hi Jon,

Thaks a lot for your answer. In fact, I browsed the related messages, and
I'd already downloaded ChartLabeler. It works, even if my first try provoked
an Excel 2000 crash.

Still strange that a possibility which existed in Lotus 20 years ago and was
so useful is still not included in Excel 2007. Looking at the forum, I see
that many miss this possibility.
