Data Execution Prevention - with AVI files

Need some help/thoughts please!
It seems 9 out of 10 times when I try opening an AVI Video file (no matter
what type) whether in windows explorer or via a program like window media
player, a Data Execution Prevention error occurs in that application and I
have to close it down. Normally the AVI files are ones I have created with
video editing software (eg Pinnacle studio, CyberLink PowerDirector and
NeroVision Express). As I've used a number of different programs, I feel
they couldn't all be causing the same problem. I'm wondering if it is
something to do with what happening when windows tries to preview or open
these files when they're selected.Possibly the codecs used to decode the
files?I've only knowingly installed extra codecs which have come with
purchased/preinstalled software or downloaded updates. I don't want to
uninstall all codecs (mainly as I'm not sure about reinstalling them
afterward) to find I'm just barking up the wrong tree. I've done the normal
virus and spyware checks which all come up clean.

So, ermm - Any thoughts that may help please. Thanks

Some versions of Pinnacle Studio have problems with DEP. See their site for
details and patches. Divx also has problems with DEP. Again see their site
for details.
