Hi All,

I am getting the above message when ever my mouse cursor is touching a file
like Video file with an Mpg format.
In the help it says that I need to go into the
MyComputer->Properties->Advance->Settings and click on the Data execution
prevention tab. Well I removed the Window Explorer from the List and clicked
on the first option and still having the above problem.

Any feedback is appreciated.

Thanks,

Doron

What version of divx do you have installed? Make sure it is the latest
version. Older versions caused this problem.

Hi Kerry,

I have a directX version 9.0c. This is Windows XP service pack 2. Any other
computer works finein that dell note book. It is my own XP windows that I
installed there. The Video card is NVida GeForce GO 6800 Ultra 256MB.
How do get to see what version of DivX i have?

Thanks,

Doron

Divx is a 3rd party program.

Have you installed it or any other 3rd party programs/codecs for video or
audio? Something you have installed is causing the problem. It will be
something to do with audio or video.

Hi Kerry,

Looking at the Add Remove Program I don't see DivX. I removed Roxio 7.5,
QuickTime and Flash from MacroMedia.
Still the DEP is running when I click on the Mpg file. Then when I close it
I crashed Windows XP. Is the err message could help. It created a whole dump
of this err.

What else is there?

It is most likely a codec that was installed. Do you have Pinnacle Studio
installed? What player opens up when you insert a DVD movie? Here is a link
to show you how to see what codecs are installed. Troubleshooting them can
be very time consuming. You have to figure out what each one that is listed
does and if you want to keep it or not. Figuring out how to remove one can
be even harder. Google is a big help. Search for the name of each codec to
find out what it is.
