data encryption

Computer 1 XP Pro, Computer 2 XP Pro, Computer 3 XP Home.
When I RD on the local network from C1 to C2 I get a data
encryption error at varying time intervals under 2
minutes. But when I connect C2 to C1 inside the network
it works flawlessly a bit slow though. C3 to C2 inside
the network also fails with a send to windows reporting
box. Connecting C3 to C2 via dial-up outside the network
also works fine but is tremendously slow. To call I use
append ip addresses and have set port forwarding on
Linksys routers. C3 to C2 inside network works fine. I
hve read some of the Linksys reports and forums with
little or no help. Any reccomendations would be great.
Thanks J

This is a rather mysterious subject, I'm afraid--meaning that we (as far as
I can recall) haven't been able to shed much light on it.

If you are getting dropped with data encryption error messaes on a LAN
connection, I think something is wrong with the LAN, myself. Can you
describe it a bit more--is it a large LAN with routers, or a small
workgroup? Is is 100mbs with switches?

It is a home (workgroup) network, 2 desktops, 1 laptop,
running through a Linksys befw11s4 router w/four port
switch.

I would strongly recommend setting the properties of each NIC's driver to
explicitly 100mbs full duplex.

Can you pin down the error further? Does it always involve a particular
machine out of the three?

Bill, here is all possible info I can give at this time, :) If you need more
info, ask me and I'll help. I will go to each of the 2 pc's and set to use
100mb specifically. Also there's only 2 pc's. the third is win 98 SE which
of course aint windows xp nor has remote desktop. just to make sure, how do
i set each pc nic to use 100mb only?
Here's all possible info at this time.

I get cus of a protocol error you've been disconnected all the time. i tried
linksys and netgear routers. here's my info. any help would be appreciated
and to tell you, i say this is a major major bug in windows xp and remote
desktop.

i think newsbin causes remote desktop in win xp to crash, but not entirely
sure. i been using for a year or so and newsbin running, remote desktop
crashes all the time with a because of a protocol error you have been
disconnected error. microsoft has seen the data via a .cap file or something
they told me to do and says there's corruption or something and this only
happens if newsbin pro is running, it has happened a few times with newsbin
pro not running, but it's extreeemly rare. they told me to try changing the
router and see if it still happens, does it happen with windows only or only
if newsbin pro is running and i said only when newsbin pro is running,
however in rare case, windows only like if im typing in word pad or just
using the mouse to browse folders or whatever and use file extraction like
win rar or whatever. i don't get crashes using pc anywhere 11 or vnc so it's
a glitch with newsbin pro and remote desktop i think. pc anywhere 11 and vnc
are so incredibly slow they're not useable really and win xp remote desktop
is instananeouse so it be one fast mo fu, this is on my lan. i have tried
even a netgear router and linksys getting the crash on both of them. i do
have a 10/100 switch in the garage 8 port, don't think it's an issue, since
this only happens with newsbin pro running on win xp pro sp1 all updates and
it only crashed in remote desktop.

My set up is.
8 port 10/100 switch in garage running 100mb
tried a netgear router and a linksys with 1.44 firmware, was told the
linksys 1.44 firmware is known to have issues with remote desktop, so i
tried this netgear, first time i use remote desktop, boom, crash after
newsbin is running a little bit. i also notice after a while when typing
there's a glitch in how the text looks, the text is not clean but looks
weirded out kind of.
all computers win xp pro sp1 all updates running 100mb.
newsbin pro 4.-current 4.2b3
remote desktop connection
because of a protocol error you have been disconnected happens a lot, not
everytime, but a lot to notice.
all nics are 3com 3c905 and a 3c905b
all computers in the win xp network control panel says they run at 100mb

Not sure how to set the NIC drivers to 100 mbs full
duplex. Yes this problem is usually associated with one
machine and happens much sooner when I access larger
files on this machine. Am I correct in assuming that
100mbs will provide a faster and equal ??(transfer)??
speed between the machines. This is the firmware of my
linksys router 1.42.7,Apr 03 2002. If I remember correctly
machine one has a Linksys NIC and machine two has a
Netgear NIC.
Thanks
Joe
