I'm having a hard time understanding "data compression" on
Windows 2000 Professional home edition.
I'm trying to learn how to compress files on floppy disk
(1.44mb formatted disks you buy from office depot to store
stuff on) and i don't understand if you can do this on
these disks. When i look under help topics the info is
very hazy and vague and keeps talking about NTFS something
or another?
Is it possible to compress data on floppies? So far i'm
going thru about 40 floppy disks and i've got floppies
everywhere!! If i could compress the data i wanna store on
these disks i'm assuming i can get more data on board
these floppies hopefully going from 40 storage disks to
maybe 8 or 9?? Is this possible?
Really confused here.........?

At best, you'll be able to double the capacity of a floppy. And I seem
to remember being able to do it under WIn95, but have never tried doing
it under Win2K.

To be honest, I would recommend looking into alternative storage
methods. USB "pen drives" are getting a lot cheaper for the equivalent
storage of your 40 floppies. Even Zip disks might be a better alternative.
