Data Base Size

I have a data base which is used exclusively for data input. It recently
exceeded the capacity of a floppy disk which I use for backup. To get around
this problem, I opened a new data base and copied the tables from the old
data base into the new data base, and the size of the new data base ended up
being one half the size of the old one. What has caused this, and can I
condense the old file?
Thanks,

tools>database utilities>compact database.
but as your db grows you are bound to exceed the 1.4mb of
a floppy disk. you should start thinking of an alternative
now. a flash drive is a good one if you have a USB
connector in front. otherwise cd-rw.
