Data Base error

Good day.

I really need some help! Someone here at our offices
deleted a Access database
file. I retrieved the file, but now it doesn't want to
open!!!!!!

It gives me the following error : Unrecognized database
format (.mdb)

Will someone please let me know what I need to do to make
this database to work as soon as possible!!!

This error can occur for several reasons:

- You might be opening it with an earlier version of Access than that
which was used to create it. For instance, if a database was created
in Access XP, Access97 will give this error and will be unable to open
it.

- The database might have been corrupted in the process. MAKE A COPY
(you might need it), and search your computer for JETCOMP.EXE. If you
don't find it you can download it for free from
http://support.microsoft.com. It's a super-repair utility which can
often repair databases which cannot be opened.

- If these fail, contact Peter Miller at http://www.pksolutions.com.

- If Peter can't recover it, he won't charge a fee... but you'll be up
the creek as far as salvaging the data.
