DAT files

I received some huge files on cd. The file shows up as .dat files. The
file type is DAT. The person that gave me the files said that it is
ASCII, and that it is a flat database. When I try to open it with my
Access program it gives me this:

Unrecognized database format.

How do I get this to work? The files are huge. 20MB - 115MB

I need to put these files into some kind of readable format in order to
sort and use the information.

Try changing the file extension to .txt and then see what you can do with
them.
