Darkness

I have an A Open 1845 laptop, a machine that I would not
recommend to anyone. In the past couple of days it has
taken to crashing. After one of these crashes the screen
started becoming darker. The whites are taking on
increasingly darker shades of grey. Being a laptop it has
no external brightness or contrast controls. Can anything
be done to rectify this (becoming a major!) problem?

Are you sure the laptop has no adjustments for brightness and contrast? Most
use a key combination to make the adjustments. Look in your manual, or go to
the web site of the maker for instructions.
