Hi,

I found DSO Exploit using Spybot and clicked to get rid of it (should have read more about it first!)

Everything seemed ok, then I got a message a few minutes later saying there was an error with my Disk Defragmenter software....??

If you use Spybot to try to delete DSO Exploit, can it affect other software?

Cheers!

I've never had a problem deleting DSO exploit on both Win XP & Win 98.

I do believe, however, that there is a problem with Spybot & DSO Exploit, not quite sure what, but it always seems to find it on every scan I do.

I think Mucks is more enlightened on this one, perhaps he'll chip in :)

Yep, I have strong feeling against using 'SB S&D'
ignore the DSO warnings as spybot team says to

Under settings/ignore products/security tab
check mark DSO exploit
It's a 'bug' awaiting to be 'fixed' ... then again I've no idea if they have bothered to fix it yet, I don't use it.

As a good alternative I suggest Ad-Aware & SpywareBlaster, both are FREE and niether will delete anything they shouldn't. Download them from my sig' kharsey, install/update/use.

ad-aware has been used on this PC since this PCs creation.
but, i would rather use two anti-spyware software. i buy alot of things online and safety and security is upmost. my norton anti-virus wont update because of the subscription, which can be fix :)

Well, I'll carry on using Spybot Search and Destroy as long as it still finds stuff that Adaware misses - which it does - DSO Exploit glitch or not.

However, since AdAware V1.05, SBS&D catches missed items with less frequency, I have to say.

:D ... and I'll use Ad-Aware & Spy Sweeper, in that order.

If you have a Home Network, Yes ... If this is just one system No.

just one PC. is it worth a home PC too have another PC acting as a firewall? i would be up for it since i can show it off.

"kye, you have no firewall! but a new PC?"
"that PC, IS my firewall!"

i will finally be popular.
