D & E drives changed to E & F

Win XP Home
Used to have C: as hard drive, D: as CD-ROM and E: as CD-RW
Now D & E have become E & F, and D is missing.
What happened??

You can reassign by right clicking on My Computer, selecting Manage... then
on the following screen, select Disk Management.

Did you perhaps connect a card reader or some external drive to your PC? If
so, it might have assigned the letter to it.

I did not connect anything new, but how do I find out what is assigned
to the old D??

Well, I did what Carl suggested.
It tells me C is my harddrive and E is CD-ROM and F is second burner
ROM.
It says nothing about D.
How do I find out what is now D or if it just disappeared????
I don't want to change E to D and F to E unless I'm sure D doesn't
exist.

Right clidk on any drive in that screen » select change drive letter or path » is D listed? Use it. Any letter not listed is assigned.
