cydoor & updates

R

robert p.

Cydoor keeps reappearing on my system. I get no warning
of its presence. I find out about it only after I have
done a scan. Why doesn't the REAL TIME PROTECTION detect
this constantly reoccurring bug?

Whenever I try to update Spyware I get a "cannot connect
to internet " error but if I select an update to occurr
on system boot up, I do get the update from your server.

What gives?

Hi Robert ,

If you have Kazaa Media Desktop then its been installed
with that i would guess.

First remove the host program if you have it(Kazaa Media
Desktop,Imesh etc..)

Download Ccleaner:

http://download.ccleaner.com/download119bin.asp

Enable hidden files and folders :

Go to My Computer->Tools/View->Folder Options->View tab
and make sure that 'Show hidden files and folders'
(or 'Show all files') is enabled. Also make sure
that 'Display the contents of system folders' is checked.

You can press restore sefaults on this page when you are
clean again

Windows XP's search feature is a little different. When
searching you click on 'All files and folders' on the
left pane,
click on the 'More advanced options' at the bottom. Make
sure that Search system folders, Search hidden files and
folders, and Search subfolders are checked.

Start your computer in safe mode. (reboot and keep
tapping F8 then choose safe mode from the list)

Start the registry editor. This is done by clicking Start
then Run. (The Run dialog will appear.) Type regedit and
click OK. (The registry editor will open.)

Browse to the key:

'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Microsoft \ Windows \
CurrentVersion \ Run'

In the right pane, delete the value called 'Cydoor', if
it exists.

Browse to the key:

'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Microsoft \ Windows \
CurrentVersion \ RunOnce'

In the right pane, delete the value
called 'CydoorUpdate', if it exists.

Navigate to and delete these keys (if they exist):

HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Software\Cydoor Services
HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Software\Cydoor
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Cydoor
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Cydoor Services
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Cydoor
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Cydoor Services
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersi
on\Uninstall\AdSupport_291
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersi
on\Uninstall\AdSupport_202
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersi
on\Uninstall\AdSupport_336

Exit the registry editor.

Search for and delete the following files and folders:

cd_install_202.exe
cd_load.exe
cd_clint.dll
cd_htm.dll
cd_swf.dll
C:\WINDOWS\System32\cd_load.exe
C:\WINDOWS\System32\AdCache\
C:\WINDOWS\System32\Roodyc\

Run Ccleaner on all 3 settings (windows, apps & issues)
and clear anything found:

Let me know if you have any problems
