Cut and Paste

Is it possible to select part of the contents of a cell, cut it, and paste
it to another cell. For example:

Selecting a word that is at the end of a short sentence, removing (cutting)
it and pasting it at the end of a sentence in another cell.

Try doing your cutting and pasting directly from the Formula bar.

Just highlight the word/characters you want to copy, rightclick copy (or
ctrl-c).
Hit escape (to avoid making an unwanted change)

Select the other cell.
Position your I-beam cursor in the formula bar at the right spot.
Rightclick|paste (or ctrl-v)

and hit enter to finish the change.

The OP said he wanted to CUT (i.e. REMOVE) a word from a sentence in one
cell and paste it into a sentence in another cell.
If, as you suggested, he performed the cutting operation in the formula bar,
and then (as you suggested) hit "Escape", the word would not be cut from the
original cell.

There is first of all, as far as I know, no reason to use the formula bar
for the operation he wants to perform.

All he has to do is highlight the cell, double click to produce a cursor
which he can then use to highlight that which he wants to cut, CTRL X, then
move to the other cell, double click to produce a cursor and position it to
where he wants to Paste, then CTRL V.
 
No need to double click, F2 is enough. It is easier though to do it in the
formula bar, especially if there is a lot of text, just don't press escape
after you have cut the string and press enter instead

Thank you, Peo. I didn't know that F2 was a handy keyboard alternative to a
double-click for producing a cursor . . .

Unless, of course OP has Tools>Options>Edit "edit directly in cell" unchecked
because OP likes to double-click and jump to any cell reference(s) contained
therein

You're right about the cutting. I posted how to copy.

But doubleclicking on the cell may not work. It'll depend on a user setting
(Tools|Options|edit tab|Edit directly in cell).

I'd say we both only get partial credit.
