Hi, I have noticed that Public Folders show up in Outlook
with a default set of columns/fields that I can then
change on the client. What I am trying to do is to have a
Public Folder appear with a specific set of columns
(different than the default) for ALL users without me
having to go on each Outlook client and set it up
manually. Like a Folder-level setting as opposed to a
client-level setting. Is this possible? Our server is
Exchange 2003. The clients are mixed Outlook 2000, XP and
2003. If this can only work for some client versions can
you please let me know which ones?

thanks

Create the view you want and save it with the
option to have it available to ALL.

Then right-click on the public folder and select
the PROPERTIES.

Poke around for the tab that shows the default
view on the Public folder and set your newly
created view to be the first view on it.

sounds great but I do have a few question:
how do I create a view? do I do it through Outlook or
through Exchange System Manager? Also to setup the view
as "first" do I use Outlook or ESM?

many-many thanks! :-)

I use Outlook to create the view.

The first box for creating views (where you name it)
is where you will want to select the
"This folder visible to everyone".

To set your Public Folder (PF) to use that view as the
first view, I use Outlook too.
