When you hit save as or open, the box that comes up where you chose the file
has a column on the left that you can click to go to: History, My Documents,
Desktop, Favorites, My Network Places. Is there a way to customize those
choices? Adding your own often used folders or taking off the unused
defaults.

Yes Bob there is. One way is to download TweakUI, one of the MS
powertoys. Under the section "Common Dialogs" the "Places Bar" you can
enter five locations to replace the default ones. Get TweakUI from here:

TweakUI v2.00 for Windows XP and XP MCE .
http://download.microsoft.com/download/whistler/Install/2/WXP/EN-US/TweakUiPowertoySetup.exe

or

TweakUI v2.10 for Windows XP SP and /XP MCE/2003.
http://download.microsoft.com/downl...a6-b352-839afb2a2679/TweakUiPowertoySetup.exe

The second way is to manually edit the registry by creating several
keys. Using TweakUI is the easier and safer method.

Thanks, that's great.
