One of my customers reciently changed his computer's case
and didn't keep a copy of his product key. Now he needs to
reinstall XP Pro...Is there a way to find the product key
in the Registry? Or Does he have to buy a new copy?

To find out what your Windows XP key is on your computer you can download
this utility:
http://michaelstevenstech.com/ViewKeyXP.htm
or an alternative that does the same job from Magical Jelly bean.

If you're unable to boot in to your Windows, see if you can boot into safe
mode.
To get into safe mode, tap the F8 key after the BIOS's POST screen.
A menu will then come up asking if you would like to boot into Windows Safe
Mode.

If this was a machine where the system was installed by the maker,
probably not. They usually use a communal key, clone the result to a
batch of machines, and provide the different one to associate with a
specific machine in a label fixed to it.

You can *try* get the free Aida 32, enterprise edition from
http://www.aida32.hu/aida-download.php?bit=32
which is an excellent general System Info tool, and its Software -
Licenses page will tell you the one used for Windows and ones for
several other items. But it will probably be giving you the wrong one
