Custom Views & Protection

I have set up a spreadsheet for use at work which has cells that need to be
protected. however when I protect the sheet the custom views I have deisgned
fail with the message "Some view settings could not be applied".

Also I set up a custom toolbar with the custom view command in it and
attached this to the workbook. When it is opened on other machines the
toolbar exists but without the custom view button.

Any help greatly appreciated I am running XP.
