Custom System Folder won't show in Folder Pane

I created a custom system folder using line 130 of:
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm

The folder works fine, shows on desktop & under my computer, but only in the right-hand pane of
explorer. It does not show as part of the folder tree in the left-hand pane.

Is this normal?

Anybody else done this customization with different results?

If I'm abnormal (highly likely), anybody know of a fix?
