Custom size for the presentation window

I need to set a custom screen size for the presentation window, 790 x 537.
Right now when I put the background graphic of that size into a master slide,
PPT automatically re-sizes is to 800 x 600. The only way I see to overcome
that is to have a custom screen size. (Long story, but leaving it 800 x 600
isn't an option.)

Thanks!

A PPT presentation almost can be any dimension needed. Go to Page Set Up and
adjust height/width. PPT using 'inches' (rounding to the nearest Hundred) so
you will need to do a conversion of 790x537 pixels to inches (8.23"x5.59").

The other option is the create a PhotoShop file that is 800x600 (I recommend
1024x768), make a background layer black, place your 790x537 image as top
layer and position so centered, save as .jpg. Now when inserted into the
default PPT page size (10"x7.5") the active image area will be your image.
The black area is to be over-projected, or if using the right equipment
cropped from being projected.

Thanks so much, Troy. I saw this in page setup. Didn't think about converting
pixels to inches....!?!?

If you have a Photoshop, design your slide in Photoshop and make the
image size in pixels eaxactly the same as one that you need for your
presentation.

Then download this tool (PowerPoint Exporter):
http://www.arsmedia.tv/pp/ppproducts.htm

(You may use it for one month before you pay for it)

Export your image from Photoshop to special PowerPoint compatible HTML
file. Then open exported HTML file in PowerPoint. It will have exactly
the same size as it has in Photoshop. (There is a manual where you may
find more about using this tool)

Now if your graphic card allows 790 x 537 resolution for playback, go
to
"Slide Show">"Setup Show" menu, and when dialog pop's up, in the
"Slide show resolution" drop down box choose your target resolution. If
your graphic card do not support 790 x 537 choose closest match, for
example 800x600.
