Custom pull-down menus keep disappearing or moving around

The pull-down menus I created in custom toolbar and some in other toolbars
keep changing, moving around, or just plain dissappear. Anyone know what's
going on? We had to make our Normal.dot read only because when we don't
that's what happens.
 
Normal.dot should never be read-only, nor should it be shared. My best guess
is that you haven't disabled adaptive menus.
