Custom Macro

I am trying to create a custom macro (using alt-F10, KJK) to insert a name.
I can not seem to get it to let me use more than 1 letter. So I have been
getting alt-F10,K. This is not an option as we want to create a macro for
about 25 people. I have googled for days looking for a place that will tell
me the maximum length of a macro but have not found anything. Is there a way
to create the macro I want or am I just wasting my time?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Keyboard shortcuts are limited to two key combinations: the first using
either Ctrl or Alt as a modifier, the second not, so Alt+F10,K as you
identify is usable (although it will disable the built-in, if little used,
Alt+F10 shortcut for "Maximize All"). This has nothing to do with the name
of the macro the keys are associated with, or even if they are associated
with a macro. Can you really not identify a key combination that will not
interfere with 25 users? Do they really have such diverse personalisations?

FWIW, macro names can be up to 255 characters long, but it's not relevant to
the issue at hand.

They wanted to be able to use the 3 initials of the user they need to insert
as a name for each individual, as the keyboard shortcut. And yes, we have
some duplicates even if I use just first name and last name initials. The
name of the macro doesn't matter - I can name it properly. It's the keyboard
shortcut that they want to be able to use.

So for alt-kjk, it would insert my full name with creditials, alt-kak would
insert another user's full name with creditials.

Sorry if I was not clear in my first post.

So you want each user to have their own keyboard shortcut. Not really
possible, I'm afraid.

If all you want to do is translate a short key sequence into a longer text,
a better approach would be to use AutoText entries.

No, what I would ideally like is to modify the normal.dot file on the network
and point all users to it and when they typed alt-kjk, my full name plus
creditials would populate. It seems that it is not possible. Thanks anyway.

You should not have multiple users sharing a single Normal.dot, that's just
asking for problems. You can have other shared global templates - but not
normal.

Your Alt+F10,kjk shortcut may not be possible, but with autotexts you could
have kjk-F3. Isn't that good enough?

This seems like an application for which AutoCorrect would be more suitable
than even AutoText.
