Our part numbers are either a 5 digit number OR a 5
character set where only the first is Alpha OR a 7 digit,
which is similar to the 5 digit except has a 2 digit add-
on. Examples would be:
12345
76815
A2345
B6247
A234567
B154987

Now, when these are entered into a cell, I would like them
to appear as follows:
123-45
768-15
A 2345
B 6247
A 2345 67
B 1549 87
Can someone help me out with my custom formatting entry?
For the numbers I know it would be 000-00, but how do I
get spaces in the text entries, and do I have to use extra
semicolons to get from positive to negative to zero to
text entries? TIA, Brad E.

Hi
AFAIK this is not possible. You can't have different text parts in your
cell formats for numbers
